Contemporary Practices

This course is designed to allow students to study and participate in several contemporary art practices such as Video, Installation, Performance Art and/or Social Practice Art. Classwork will include research, student presentations, class critiques, conversations with visiting artists, and personal exploration of relevant themes.

As a result of this course students will:

1. Understand a variety of Contemporary Practices as expressive formats through which they can communicate ideas.

2. Develop skills and gain confidence in their ability to encourage participation from the community and collaborate with others.

3. Learn the significance of artistic documentation when working in temporary or event- based art forms.
